FAQS

1. DO WE WASH BLINDS?

  • No, we do not provide this service, however we can send blinds away to have them reversed and re-finished. This is were the fabric is taken off and flipped upside down so the cleaner fabric is now exposed at the bottom and the dis- coloured fabric is now wrapped around the tube. This does not work for blinds with a pattern as fabric is  turned and because a new finish has to be cut at the bottom you need to be sure you have enough fabric so your blind doesn't come back too short for the window.

2. DO WE REPAIR BLINDS?

  • Depends, If the blind is from ourselves then yes we can replace parts. If your blind came from different suppliers than what we use, then we might not be able to fix the parts on your blind. such as winders, springs and slats are examples of parts. If your fabric is ripped or damaged then we can send them away to be refinished but always check you have enough fabric to cover the drop of your window otherwise you have the problem of your blind being too short for your window.

3. DO WE FIT BLINDS BOUGHT FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE?

  • No... if however you have bought blinds/Curtains  from us in the past and you take them down to decorate then yes we will fit them back up but there is a fitting charge for this, cost depends on how many re-fits

4. IS THERE A CHARGE ON SERVICE CALLS?

  • If your blind was bought over 12 months ago then yes there is a €40 - €60 service charge plus whatever is needed to repair the blind. If your blind was bought under 12 months ago then it is still under warranty so a service call is free but, only if there is a fault in the making of the blind, not if for example, accidental damage or issues arising from wear and tear or heavy-handed operation will not be covered under warranty.

5. WHEN DO I PAY THE BALANCE ON MY BLINDS?

  • All blinds must be paid in full on the day of fitting. You can pay the fitter when he is there or you can phone any of our showrooms and pay over the phone.

6. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A SALES REP TO CALL TO MY HOME FOR MEASURING?

  • Once we have taken your details it takes about 2-4 days for a sales rep to call back to arrange a day and time that suits you for them to call to measure, they usually try their best to get to you the following week, however, this may vary at certain times of the year as sometimes we are busier than usual such as Christmas for example.

7. ONCE I PAY MY DEPOSIT HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR MY BLIND TO BE FITTED?

  • For Rollers, Verticals, Venetians, Skylights, and Day & Nights it can take roughly between 2 -3 weeks. For Romans and Curtains, it can take between 3-and 4 weeks. Shutters can take up to 8 -10 weeks. However sometimes delays can occur due to circumstances out of our control, such as fabric being out of stock, only part of your order was delivered and we having to wait for the next delivery. As soon as blinds come in, we phone our customers to arrange fitting straight away.

8. DO YOU DO SUPPLY ONLY?

  • Yes, but there is no difference in price so your better off getting the reps out to measure the window so you can be sure your blinds arrive the right size. If you are confident in your measurements then we can supply you with a blind.

9. DO YOU DO EXTERIOR BLINDS?

  • Yes. We supply Fit Awnings. View our blinds page or contact us for more information.

10. DO YOU HAVE POLES FOR BAY WINDOWS?

  • Yes, we provide a make up service

11. DO YOU ALTER CURTAINS?

  • No sorry, we don't provide that service anymore.

12. CAN I TURN MY EXISTING BLIND INTO A MOTORISED BLIND?

  • Yes, you can, if your existing blind came from us and has a 38mm barrel then a motor can be added, otherwise, you will have to have your fabric put onto a new barrel with the motor. If you are getting new blinds and are thinking that eventually, you will want to have them motorised then request your rollers to be put on a 38mm barrel and return for the motor at a later date.

13. CAN I JUST BUY VANES FOR MY VERTICAL BLIND?

  • Yes, but in order for us to get the right length, it helps if you bring in an old vane of your vertical to use as a size reference also we would need to know how many vanes fit on your existing track so count what is there. if you have thrown away your existing vertical vanes then measure the drop of your recess and we can account for the track.

14WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RECESS AND EXACT SIZE WHEN MEASURING FOR BLINDS?

  • Recess size or window reveal: Basically, It is the wall that goes around your window frame. If you want your blind to go on the inside of your window you would measure wall to wall across and top to bottom to get the recess size of your window

  • Exact Size: A Blind that is fitted outside the recess. The blind is attached to the wall above the window, covering both the window and part of the wall on either side of the recess

15.HOW DO I MEASURE MY WINDOW?

  • There are two ways to measure, most people who bring their measurements to us to get a rough quote, give us recess size measurements. Recess is the frame (wall) around the window. Using a measuring tape measure the width from wall to wall (horizontal) at the top of your window, then measure vertically from wall to wall (top to bottom) to get the drop of your window. The other measurement is exact measurement this is where you measure outside the recess around the window adding about an inch all the way around your window, These measurements are for people who want the blinds to go on the outside of the window instead of inside (e.g Roman Blinds)

16. DO WE MEASURE SKYLIGHTS?

  • Blinds such as Velux, Keylite and Fakro all have codes within the frame of their window, this is the code we need to order your blinds as it represents the type of skylight you have and the size. There is no need for us to call and measure.

17. HOW DO I MEASURE FOR CURTAINS?

  • If you already have a pole or track up over your window,  you can just measure the width of the pole or track that is there already. If you have a pole, measure from within the finials and if you have a track measure from end to end.

  • If you do not have a pole/track up, measure the width of your window but add 20 cm to each side to allow for your curtains to be stacked off the window when your curtains are open.

Measuring the Drop

  • The length of your curtain is totally up to you, but if you are fitting a new pole/track aswell remember to measure from about 15 cm above your window recess to allow your pole/track to be hung and for your curtain to be attached to it.

Measure Based On Headings

  • When using a track measure from the top of the track to where the curtain is to finish, if using a pole measure from underneath the rings on the pole. For Eyelets, however, measure about 3cm above the pole to where you want the curtain to finish.
